Second ship built by Colombo Dockyard handed over to India

Colombo Dockyard PLC today handed over the second passenger ship built by Sri Lanka to India.

The ship named 'MV Lakshadweep Sea' is to transport passengers between the mainland and Lakshadweep Islands of India. The ship can accommodate 250 passengers with luxury facilities.
Colombo Dockyard received Rs. 2 billion from India to build the ship, second of the two ships ordered by India.

The company delivered MV Arabian Sea, the first of two passenger-cum-cargo vessels ordered by the Administration of Union Territories of Lakshadweep, India on the 15th of January 2010.

The chief of Colombo Dockyard marketing division Prince Lye told media that two more ships are to be built by Dockyard.
