New horses for Sri Lanka Police Mounted Division

Sri Lanka Police Mounted Division is to be expanded with 15 new horses, police sources say.

They will be brought to Sri Lanka, trained, and used for police services, especially at state ceremonies like the Independence Day.
Around 10 horses belonged to the Sri Lanka Police Mounted Division died in recent times creating an urgent need to purchase new horses, police sources say.
A new veterinary laboratory for horses will also be opened at the Police Mounted Division. The Division has recruited a permanent veterinary surgeon in the rank of reserve Assistant Superintendent of Police to do full time veterinary work.
