Intervene to free universities from politics, urges Patriotic Students Center affiliated to National Freedom Front of Sri Lanka

The Patriotic Students Center affiliated to National Freedom Front of Sri Lanka led by ex-Marxist Minister Wimal Weerawansa asked the Marxist People's Liberation Front (JVP) led Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) to stop the violence in universities.

Addressing media in Colombo today, the Chairman of the Patriotic Students' Center Sujith Muthukumarana said that the IUSF must stop the play with the life and future of the university students. He also urged the Minister of Higher Education and the President to intervene to free the students from political meddling that lead them for disaster.

He further urged to free the university students held under detention and also urged those subjected to suspension allowed to continue their studies. The government should not impose punishments on students but move them away from harmful forces, he said.

Patriotic Student Center says it has been formed with the objective of inheriting an enlightened generation of students to the nation.
