The Iranian Minister arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday (13) to attend the 9th meeting of the Iran and Sri Lanka's joint economic committee in Colombo from September 13 ' 15.

According to an Iranian government official during the meeting the two sides are to sign six memorandums of understanding in different fields such as science, culture and art, standard, costumes, and sisterhood agreement between Iran's Shahid Rajaei port and Colombo port.
The joint economic meeting was aimed at promoting Iran and Sri Lanka's trade, increasing cooperation in holding international economic exhibitions in the two countries, boosting maritime relations, and execution of technical and engineering services.
Deputy Minister of Commerce & Chief of the Organization for Expansion of Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Babak Afghahi, Sri Lankan Ministers Rishad Bathiyudeen, Jayaratna Herath, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Finance Secretary Dr. P B Jayasundara, Director General of Commerce Gomi Senadhira were also present.
