Sri Lanka's Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has instructed provincial education authorities to categorize the pre-schools in the province as A, B, C and D. There are around 3,000 pre-schools in the Western Province.
The Ministry has assigned a group of graduate employees in this regard. They will inspect the pre-schools and categorize them in accordance with the facilities and quality of pre-school education.
The A Grade pre-schools will receive an allowance. Each pre-school is to be given a set of educational equipment worth of Rs. 15,000, the Minister says.
The Ministry has allocated Rs. eight million to improve the standard of the pre-schools in the Western Province, says the Chief Minister.
