Sri Lanka's Democratic National Alliance (DNA) has decided to carry out a series of protest rallies overseas demanding the release of former Army Commander and DNA Leader Sarath Fonseka and to call for democracy to be established in the country.
Fonseka's daughter Apsara Fonseka is expected to participate in the protest rallies.
The first rally is scheduled for September 26 in Milan, the second rally on October 2 in Paris and the third one on October 3 in Rome.
DNA MPs Arjuna Ranatunga, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and Tiran Alles are also to participate in these rallies.
Chief Prelate of the Malwatta Chapter Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera has reportedly told Fonseka's wife Anoma that the four Prelates would discuss Fonseka's plight and advice President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the issue.
DNA General Secretary and parliamentarian Vijitha Herath had accompanied Anoma to meet the Prelates today (22), local media reported.
