Sri Lanka Tamil Alliance says it supports government's development work in the North and East, but not politics

Sri Lanka's Tamil National Alliance (TNA) today said that it would work with the government on various development programmes in the Northern and Eastern provinces.
However, the TNA says the move is not in any way connected to the party's stance with regard to the government on certain political issues.
TNA parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran told that the party would work together with the government to implement development projects in the North and East that would benefit the region.

"We will work on these programmes, which also include the resettlement programme at district level in the North and East," he said.
Premachandran however, said the government has so far failed to address several issues highlighted by the party with regard to the resettlement programme and issues faced by the people in the North and East.
"We asked for a proper mechanism to be put in place, but that has not happened yet," he said.
