Sri Lanka has recorded a 15 percent increase in Sri Lankan migrant workers during the first half of 2010 in comparison to the same period of 2009.
Additional General Manager of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB), L. K. Ruhunage has said that an estimated 134,670 Sri Lankans have taken up foreign jobs during the first six months of 2010 compared to 117,069 workers in the same period last year.
A majority of the Sri Lankans who have gained employment overseas have traveled to West Asia and Middle East while a small percentage had also headed for South Korea and Malaysia.
