Gunman shoots teacher, kills himself in a Sri Lankan school

An unidentified gunman shot dead a female teacher in a school in the Moneragala District of southeastern Sri Lanka and turned the gun on himself, the police said.

Police spokesman Prishantha Jayakody told media that the shootings took place in Siyambalanduwa Maha Vidyalaya this morning soon after the school began for the day.
The incident has caused panic among the students, the police official has said.
The teacher who was admitted to the hospital succumbed to her injuries, media reports said.
