The Sri Lankan who was identified as 23-year-old Rowan Kumara Hinatjala was found guilty of murdering the husband of his mistress by stabbing him.
The Dubai Court of Cassation rejected an appeal by the accused and upheld the verdict of the Court of Appeal which sentenced him to death after he was found guilty of pre-meditated murder.
In April, the criminal court had sentenced the accused to life imprisonment after he was convicted, followed with deportation after the expiry of his sentence. Later the Court of Appeal had changed the sentence to death penalty.
