Sri Lankan parliamentary proceedings adjourned for a few minutes due to opposition protest

The Sri Lankan parliament was adjourned for a few minutes Tuesday due to a protest by the opposition members in the well of the House
.Parliamentarians from the opposition JVP and UNP protested against the court martial ruling on DNA MP Sarath Fonseka.
The first court martial ordered Fonseka be given a dishonorable discharge from the Army for being engaged in political work while in active service.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday authorized the verdict of the first court martial.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe requested that all records of Fonseka's first court martial be tabled in parliament.
The request caused loud protest from the government benches and Deputy Chairman of Committees Murugesu Chandrakumar was compelled to adjourn sittings for a few minutes following the commotion.
Wickremasinghe said that Fonseka's democratic rights as well as Parliamentary Privileges have been infringed by the court martial verdict.
