Sri Lanka private buses warn of trade union action regarding time table issue

Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association warned the passenger transport authorities that they will go into trade union action if the regulatory body fails to formulate a time-table for Private Buses in the Western Province within a fortnight.

The President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association, Gamunu Wijeyaratna stated at a press briefing that the discipline of the private bus workers cannot be prioritized without proper time tables. He also said that preparation of time tables is not the bus employees' or owners' responsibility but the responsibility of the regulatory bodies.
The bus owners' association further stated that they have focused the issue to the attention of the officials and a grace period of two weeks has been granted to resolve the issue.
The President of the Private Bus Owners' Association also protested the Provincial Transport Minister of the Western Province and urged the government to remove him from his post.
