Sri Lanka Police call on public to lodge complaints against arrested fraudster without delay

Sri Lanka Police have called on the public to immediately lodge complaints against financial fraudster Sakvithi Ranasinghe, who is currently detained by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The police today said that complaints can be lodged through the phone number 0112422176 or by visiting the CID office in Colombo.
Ranasinghe Mudiyanselage Chandana Weerakumara alias Sakvithi Ranasinghe allegedly swindled a large number of people for over 5 billion rupees and fled the country with his wife.
After a search that lasted for almost two years, the police arrested Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife from Nawagamuwa yesterday (6). A female Civil Defence Force member had identified Sakvithi's wife and informed the Nugegoda police, which sent a team to inquire.
He was taken to the CID headquarters soon after his arrest.
Initial investigations revealed that he had returned to the country from India using a passport with a Tamil name.
