Sri Lanka's Democratic National Alliance (DNA) today denied claims by the media that its leader retired General Sarath Fonseka has been invited to join the opposition United National Party (UNP)
.General Fonseka's wife, Anoma Fonseka told a press briefing today that upon inquiring into the media reports of an invitation being extended to General Fonseka to join the UNP he has not expressed much of an interest in the matter.
The DNA meanwhile also objected to the continuation of sittings of the first court martial against General Fonseka during court vacations.
Courts are on vacation from August 9 till 13.
DNA parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the media that all legal inquiries have ceased till after the vacation and that the court martial should also resume once the vacation ends.
The defence counsel has already informed the court martial that they would not be attending any sittings until the end of the vacation.
The military has however said the court marital inquiry would continue and any decision to suspend it would be taken by its Chairman.
The first court martial is to resume sittings tomorrow (12).
