Sri Lanka Bar Association says that it is greatly concerned on the allegation leveled against a judge for sexually abusing a female domestic aid and has called for a fair and comprehensive investigation on the allegation.
In a press release issued by Mahinda B. K Lokuge, Secretary of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka said that the Executive Committee of the Bar Association, at its meeting held on August 6, 2010, viewed with great concern, the allegations made recently against a judge of gross impropriety.
It appreciated and endorsed fully the prompt steps taken in this regard by the Chief Justice to ensure that the integrity of the judicial system is maintained and that a proper investigation is carried out.
The Executive Committee is of the firm view that these investigations should be carried out fully and fairly.
"Any failure to do so will only undermine and gravely affect the public confidence in the administration of justice," it said.
