Remand prisoner kills another inmate in Sri Lanka

An inmate of Sri Lanka's main Magazine Prison killed a fellow inmate today in a clash, Sri Lanka Prison Department says.

Prisons Commissioner Major General D. R. Silva says that the clash broke between a prisoner that was in remand for five years and another suspect that was remanded yesterday.
The deceased has attempted to mediate the quarrel and received an attack from the veteran inmate with a pointed handle of a bucket.

He succumbed to injuries after he was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, prison authorities said.
Borella police and the Prisons Department are conducting investigations.
