Alliance of Media Organisations in Sri Lanka staged a peaceful protest today to mark 200 days since the disappearance of cartoonist and columnist Prageeth Eknaligoda.
Sri Lankan media activists held placards that read "200 days, still missing" at the protest held at the Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo this afternoon.
The protesters demanded the government to disclose information on the disappearance of Eknaligoda, a freelance reporter for Lanka-e-News, a news site that was critical of the government.
The public protest was followed by a seminar at the Public Library.
Eknaligoda who supported the common opposition presidential candidate General (Retired) Sarath Fonseka at the January 26 presidential elections this year disappeared in the evening of January 24, just 36 hours before the elections.
