Karunanidhi welcomes Ghulam Nabi Azad's warning to Cong leaders in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi today welcomed Congress' warning to state party leaders against making statements in public on alliance with DMK.

"(Ghulam Nabi) Azad's remarks are in conformity with alliance dharma. I welcome it," Karunanidhi told reporters after the parliamentary party meeting here.
Irked by senior state Congress leader EVKS Elangovan's repeated critical remarks about his government, Karunanidhi
had recently warned that such utterances would only "hurt" the
DMK-Congress ties.
Azad, who is in-charge of the party affairs in Tamil Nadu, had stated in Delhi yesterday that Congress alliance with DMK both at the state and national level will continue.
He had also said the party had not authorised any one in the state to make comments against the alliance and warned of action against those issuing statements on the issue.
Asked about Elangovan's repeated attacks on DMK in various public meetings, Karunanidhi said it was a 'closed chapter'.
To a question on salary hike for MPs, Karunanidhi said he had no objection when they get their fair dues. "We have not discussed this in our meeting. However, I do not have any objection if they get their fair dues," he said.
On Sri Lankan Tamils issue, Karunanidhi said he had met foreign secretary Nirupama Rao recently and discussed the current situation in the island nation, especially rehabilitation of displaced Tamils there.
