The ruling party parliamentarians should be committed to fulfill the aspirations of the country's people, Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa told his legislators delivering his concluding remarks this morning at the two-day government workshop held in Beruwela.
The President said the public has placed their confidence on the government's development drive and the ruling party parliamentarians should not betray that trust.
He urged his government members to work together to carry forward the government's programs successfully.
President Rajapaksa noted that the views expressed and the proposals presented at the workshop will be highly significant in structuring the future plans for the country's development.
The two-day educational workshop commenced yesterday with the participation of ministers, deputy ministers, MPs and other government officials was aimed to broadly discuss the 'Mahinda Chinthana' program for the purpose of building a new political culture in the country and to solicit views and proposals of the participants for formulating future economic policies.
The participants were educated on the role of public representatives in creating a prosperous country, especially focusing attention on global economic trends that affect the country and the ways to face those issues.
Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge and President's Chief of Staff, Gamini Senarath were also present.
The workshop, organized by the Presidential Secretariat was conducted by Senior Lecturer of Colombo University Prof. Laksiri Fernando, Senior Lecturer of Peradeniya University Dr. Damma Dissanayake and Dr. Charitha Herath.
