Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa today said the party should consult its local government members and organizers on any future changes in the party.
He told a press conference today that he has proposed to the party's Working Committee that the members of local authorities and electoral organizers be consulted with regards to any future changes.
Premadasa said that only a few were involved in the decision making process while a majority of the party members kept silent. "This is wrong," he said.
Premadasa at the party's Working Committee meeting on Monday (19) proposed that party members in the provincial councils and local government bodies be allowed to vote in the event of an election to choose individuals for high positions in the party.
