Sri Lankan court remands former deputy minister

A Sri Lankan court today remanded former Deputy Minister Chandana Kathriarachchi and three others who have been accused of murder.



The Colombo High Court opened the trial today of the Deputy Minister and three others who have been accused of murdering resident of Piliyandala, K. Chandraratna on August 24, 1996.

A seven-member jury consisting of six females is participating in the case that was taken up by High Court Judge Kumudini Wickremasinghe.

The trial is to continue tomorrow (July 02) as well.
