Tusker tramples farmer to death in Tamil Nadu

A farmer was trampled to death by an elephant in the Kadambur forest range in Erode yesterday, forest department officials said.

The elephant had chased Gurusamy (43) before trampling him to death.

In Gunderipallam reservoir area near Sathyamangalam, farmers complained that two elephants entered their field and damaged standing crops like Ragi and Banana yesterday.

They told officials that they incurred more than Rs5 lakh worth crop loss.
