Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga took a career-best five wickets to crush Pakistan in the match opener of the Asia Cup 2010 at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium Tuesday.
After setting 243 for Pakistan to chase, Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 16 runs despite Shahid Afridi's century.
Mahela Jayawardena's 54 and an unbeaten 55 from all-rounder Anjelo Mathews lifted Sri Lanka to post 242/9.
Malinga was the man shone at the match taking wickets of Shahzaib Hasan, Salman Butt, Umar Amin, Mohammad Aamer and Shoaib Akhtar. Malinga also added 16 runs to Sri Lanka's score.
Sri Lanka will meet Bangladesh next on Friday June 18.
