SAARC Interior Ministers approve resolution to fight terrorism in the region

Interior Ministers of the SAARC member sates met in Islamabad, Pakistan today (26) and approved the resolutions for joint efforts against terrorism and smuggling, Pakistani media reported.


Interior Ministers from South Asian Regional Association Conference had also discussed ways to strengthen police cooperation and step up real-time intelligence sharing and other means to combat terrorism that has afflicted the region.

The SAARC ministers agreed to consider a proposal forwarded y Pakistan to crate an institution similar to Interpol.

Interior Ministers of Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives are attending the conference Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik presided over the meeting.

Sri Lanka is represented by Interior Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka.
