Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday participated in religious observances at the Sithulpawwa Raja Maha Viharaya in Sithulpawwa in Southern Sri Lanka in observance of the Poson Poya Day.
Speaking at the occasion, President Rajapaksa invited the nation to join hands to mould an ethical society that is beneficial and productive to the future generations of the country.
Later in the evening the President lighted up the rock with the annual Aloka Pooja (lighting ceremony) at the temple organized by the Upali Group of Newspapers.
President Rajapaksa did not miss the opportunity to address the large number of devotees attending the Poya Day rituals at the temple.
Chief incumbent of Sithulpawwa Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Matarambe Hemarathana, Chief incumbent of Sandagiri Ubhaya Rajamahaviharaya Ven, Dr. Dewalegama Dhammasena, Deputy Speaker Priyankara Jayaratna, Managing Director of Upali Group Dammika Artigala were also present,
