India's Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma is due to arrive in Colombo Sunday (27) on a five-day visit, the Indian daily The Hindu reported Saturday.
The Indian Navy chief is scheduled to hold discussions with his Sri Lankan counterpart Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and to exchange of views.
Admiral Verma will travel to the Eastern and Northern provinces, former battlegrounds of Sri Lanka. He is also scheduled to travel to the Kankasanthurai Harbour in Jaffna peninsula.
The Naval chief will be the chief guest at the passing out parade of the Sri Lanka Naval Academy in Trincomalee, the Hindu reported.
Admiral Verma, whose career spans nearly four decades, is the senior-most Indian military official to visit the island nation in the last five years.
