Chief prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkita Thero has requested Sri Lanka Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe to be patient, as a leader would get his place at the proper time.
The Thero had said that if one tries to take a leadership post by force he/she will lose it forever.
The Chief Prelate had made this statement when Wickremasinghe accompanied by the United National Party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and parliamentarians Lakshman Kiriella and Wijedasa Rajapakse, called on the Thero in Kandy recently.
The Chief Prelate's statement has come at a time when the UNP is in crisis over the leadership and calls have been made for change in the party's leadership.
Wickremasinghe had also been asked by the Thero to bring all groups in the party together.
The Opposition Leader in response had said that former President J.R. Jayewardene had read two or three pages from the Dhammapada once or twice a week to find mental solace.
