Sri Lanka's Democratic National Alliance (DNA) led by former Army Commander retired General Sarath Fonseka is to call for his release from military detention on Tuesday (18) evening to coincide with the first anniversary of the military victory.
The DNA has decided to conduct an 'Adistana Pooja' on Tuesday.
Fonseka's wife Anoma Fonseka told the media today (16) that it was ironic for her to see rehearsals of military parades within the premises of the Navy headquarters where her husband, the key player of this victory, is being held in military custody.
General Fonseka was arrested on February 08 by the military police and has been detained at the Navy Headquarters since then.
The former Army Commander is facing two military tribunals on charges of involvement in political activities while in active service and contravention of military procurement procedures.
Fonseka was elected to the parliament from Colombo District at the general elections held in April this year.
