Sri Lanka Tamil alliance to prepare report on government's resettlement programme
Sri Lanka's Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is currently preparing a report on the governments resettlement programme in the North, its progress and concerns.
The TNA has decided to prepare the report following a visit made to the Wanni last week by a group of TNA parliamentarians led by its leader R. Sampanthan. The group had visited Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Mannar.
The TNA is to table the report on the fact finding mission in the resettled areas, in Parliament on June 8.
The Alliance has decided to present the issues faced by the people in the North including those who have been already resettled.
"The report is currently being prepared by the party. We will first table it in Parliament during the next parliamentary week. After that, we will release it to the media," TNA National List parliamentarian, Attorney M.A. Sumanthiran has been quoted in the local media.
Following the visit to the North, TNA parliamentarians observed that some of the resettled families had not received the promised monies by the government upon resettlement.
