Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has postponed presenting its proposals for party reforms by a week to May 17.
Addressing a media briefing at the UNP media unit today (10), UNP parliamentarian Gayantha Karunatileke said the reforms committee headed by Joseph Michael Perera needs more time to formulate their proposals and the final report will be issued on next Monday (17).
Several party members have forwarded their proposals on party reforms to the UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe.
The proposals were taken up at the party's Working Committee meeting last Wednesday. The Working Committee recently decided that leadership posts within the UNP should be subjected to an internal election.
