Sri Lanka's ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has been ruled out of the ICC World T20 tournament for 2-3 weeks due to injury, Sri Lanka Cricket announced Sunday.
Murali has suffered a groin strain during the match against New Zealand on Friday and he is ruled out of the tomorrow's deciding match against Zimbabwe.
Sri Lanka Cricket said according to team's physiotherapist, Tommy Simsek, clinical tests have revealed a Grade 1 strain of Murali's right adductor muscle and he is advised to rest for 2-3 weeks.
SLC is expected to decide a replacement for Murali with the advice of the National selectors.
Sri Lanka lost Friday's match to New Zealand and the team is now under pressure to win tomorrow's match against upbeat Zimbabwe if they want to stay in the tournament.
