That feeling only got stronger as Suriya and Ram Gopal Varma fielded questions posed by journalists on their upcoming film Rakta Charitra (Ratha Charithram in Tamil), which is now almost ready to hit screens in three different languages — Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Speaking on the occasion, director Ram Gopal Varma said, “I’ve always been interested with topics that deal with the dark side. This movie is based on true incidents that occurred in interior Andhra Pradesh. I wanted to make this movie in many languages as it needs to be told to as many people as possible. It is a violent film but the violence is in the emotion. It has individualistic and extreme characters.”
Apart from Suriya, the movie also features Vivek Oberoi and Priya- mani, among others.
Commenting on the experience of working on the project, Suriya said, “I found a message in my inbox saying ‘I loved your intensity in Kaakha Kaakha.’ It was from RGV. I had always wanted to meet him. After reading that mail, I met him and we’ve been good friends since. For a long time, I’ve wanted to work with him and then, Rakta Charitra happened. This film is not fantasy. It is inspired by the life of a person who still exists. I play the character of Suri in this film. This is my first pan India film; still, for me, this is a Tamil film.”
The movie, which is on the verge of being completed, is to be released as just one part in Tamil and two parts in both Hindi and Telugu.
