Sri Lanka's newly appointed Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella assumed duties today at a ceremony held at the Ministry premises.
Speaking at the occasion, the former Defence Ministry spokesman thanked President Mahinda Rajapaksa for appointing him to the relevant portfolio and Kandy district people for their support setting aside political differences.
Acknowledging the cooperation granted to him by the media, Rambukwella said there is no proper scale to be used to define the media culture but it will be based on the knowledge, vision, and attitude of the journalists. The Minister pointed out that he has a close relationship with media for years.
Minister Rambukwella said the country has achieved peace under the leadership of President and Defence Secretary and now that time has come for the country to move towards development he expects the full corporation of the media as well as of the public towards those goals of the government.
