A scandal involving sale of spurious and expired drugs has surfaced in Tamil Nadu after police and health officials raided over 1,000 pharmaceutical godowns and shops across the state and seized such substances worth several crores of rupees.
Investigation is now on to ascertain possible inter-state nexus in the racket following the surrender of the prime suspect, Director of private Meena Healthcare, Meenakshisundaram, police sources said.
The CB-CID wing of the state police has registered cases under Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and provisions of the IPC and has been conducting raids at different parts of the state even as the Chennai Police has formed special teams to solve the case.
