The award recipients include Devi Arasanayagam and Ravi Sreedharan, who co-founded the Fort York Food Bank (FYFB) in 1998. Today, the food bank they begun has assisted more than 200,000 clients, served more than 185,000 meals through a community kitchen, and distributed more than $5 million worth of food to Toronto’s hungry. The pair will be presented with the Outstanding Community Service Person(s) Award.
With her samosas, rottis and pattis, Elil Pathmanathan has launched herself into one of the leading female entrepreneurs in the Tamil Canadian community. Ms. Pathmanathan’s leadership and business acumen, coupled with the taste of her products, has led to her business booming and growing from three to 42 employees. Ms. Pathmanathan, who immigrated to Canada in 1997, will be presented with the Best Woman Entrepreneur Award.
Vijay, Sanjay and Ranjit Koneswaran are three brothers who exemplify “the immigrant success story” in the Tamil Canadian community. They will be presented with the Best Entrepreneur Award.
These individuals are among the many outstanding Tamil Canadians who will be recognized at the Canadian Tamils’ Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala.
The event is Sponsored by the Industrial Alliance, TD Canada Trust, RBC Royal Bank, and Scotiabank.
