Feb 23, Colombo: A veteran actress of Sri Lanka silver screen is to contest the upcoming general elections under the ruling party United People‘s Freedom Alliance for the Galle district.
Actress Geetha Kumarasinghe is among the new faces in the UPFA's group that submitted nominations today for the Galle District.
The leader of the alliance group, Minister Piyasena Gamage has handed over the nominations at the Galle district secretary's office this morning.
Minister Piyasena Gamage told the state-owned Sri Lankan Broadcasting Corporation that the ruling alliance nominated a balanced team for the Galle District giving prominence to the youth. The UPFA expects to sweep the district at the upcoming elections, he added.
