Karunanidhi condoles Varadarajan’s death

Condoling the death of state CPI (M) leader W.R. Varadarajan, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said that he had left behind memories of his ‘strong will, service-mindedness and love and affection’ even as ‘questions’ about his demise linger on.

‘He has left behind memories of his strong will, service-minded nature and love and affection. He was a great trade union leader,’ Karunanidhi said while writing in party mouthpiece ‘Murasoli.’

Recalling Mr. Varadarajan’s days as an MLA in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Mr. Karunanidhi said he gave constructive inputs for government functioning, and said that he was very happy after the then state government headed by the DMK leader rechristened the Napier Park as May Day Park, in response to the deceased leader’s request to install a May Day symbol in the city.

‘He is no more today, the questions over his demise still linger on, but his name and fame among the working class will never dim,’ Mr. Karunanidhi added.
