Tourist and industrial fair to be opened on Tuesday


CHENNAI: Chief minister M Karunanidhi will inaugurate the 36th India Tourist and Industrial Fair 2010 organised by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development
Corporation (TTDC) at the Island grounds on December 22.
The 70-day fair will showcase the theme Tourism celebrates diversity' and will have 44 government pavillions, 115 stalls and 27 pavillions where household articles will be sold at competitive rates, said tourism secretary Irai Anbu.

"We expect 20 lakh visitors this year. The number of visitors to the fair was 9 lakh in 2005 and 17 lakh in 2009."

The fair will also feature a replica of shore temple of Mamallapuram complete with Arjuna Penance, the five rathas and the temple. Tamil Iyal Isai Peruvizha will also be organised as an additional attraction in the fair which will be open from 3 pm to 10 pm on week days and 11 am to 10 pm on weekends.
