
Sri Lanka Police have launched an investigation into the attack on the ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) office in Thirukkowil of the Ampara District.
The Police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police, I. M. Karunaratna said two groups have clashed and a vehicle was set ablaze near the SLFP office that was attacked.
The spokesperson said the driver of the Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan aka Pillayan had lodged a complaint with regard to the jeep being set on fire.
The clash reportedly between the supporters of Chief Minister's Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) and the supporters of Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan aka Karuna has left three people injured.
The Pillayan supporters and Karuna supporters are trading charges against each other for instigating the clash
