Colombo: Sri Lanka Transport Board recommenced the commuter transportation between Kandy and Jaffna today after a lapse of 26 years.
The first bus bound for Jaffna after the A-9 highway was opened left the Kandy bus stand at 3 a.m. today, the Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayaka said.
The commuter service between the two cities had been suspended for 26 years due to the LTTE terrorism in the North.
Early reservations of seats in the Kandy-Jaffna buses are available for the commuters.
