Bakery owners in Sri Lanka reduce bread prices


Colombo: Sri Lanka's Bakery Owners' Association has decided to reduce the price of a loaf of bread by three rupees.

The decision was taken following the government's move to reduce the price of a kilo gram of wheat flour by 10 rupees, N. K. Jayawardene, president of the Bakery Owners' Association said.

The government reduced the prices of some essential items effective midnight Friday (18) to provide relief to the consumers during the holiday season.

Jayawardene has requested all bakery owners to reduce the price of other bakery products too fin line with the government price reduction.
