Appavi - Tamil cinemas first trilogy

Devi Vision’s Appavi seems to be a movie with a “strong message for crores of Indians”, according to its director R Raghuraj. “Its also Tamil cinema’s first trilogy, I am going to make three films on the themes of red, white and green. Appavi is the first with the red theme. I cannot disclose more at this stage since it will be giving away too much”.

Raghuraj wants to equate himself with the greatest ever Indian director Satyajit Ray!! Remember Ray made the Appu trilogy? Confident about his story and message he has cast newcomer Gautham as hero.

Gautham a second year student of BBA at Loyola College in Chennai was chosen within seven days. “I wanted a boy who looks like a common man with no big image and who could be one among the audience so that they would identify with the message he is conveying through the powerful dialogues in the film,” says Raghuraj.

Suhani plays a college girl and has done four Telugu films before debuting in Tamil with Appavi. Touted as a movie without the usual glam, it has a kuthu number but the dialogues are not vulgar nor do they contain the regular vocabulary found in Kuthu numbers these days says the director.

The music is by Joshua Sridhar while Dinesh is the choreographer. E Krishnaswamy handles the camera while Palaniraj has done the stunts, VL Dandapani is the producer. Raghuraj concludes by saying: “The movie will sow seeds of revolutionary thinking and send a strong message in our society”.
