uriya has issued a clarification regarding certain utterances of his which has been twisted out of context by a section of the media.
After a Tamil daily published a highly damaging report about certain actresses, Nadigar Sangam came to their rescue and demanded the arrest of the journalist who was subsequently arrested, jailed and then let out on bail.
Among the actors who spoke up for the actresses who were defamed by the particular Tamil paper and demanded the support of the journalists were Rajinikanth, Sathyaraj and Suriya. However a section of the media interpreted it as an attack on freedom of press and targeting of the media.
Suriya clarified that his words were twisted by a section of the media, when he spoke out in defense of the actresses and their family who were affected by the news. He said like in any other field in the media too there are good and bad elements.
In the past, he too has been at the receiving end of this nasty press which has made baseless allegations. Any individual can raise their voice against such attacks.
The actor also clarified that his anger is against a section of the media who indulge in such scurrilous writing and not the media as a whole. His family has been having the best of relationship with the press for the last 40 years and he would continue to maintain that healthy relationship.
