Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the All Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) supremo Ms J Jayalalithaa lashed out Chief Minister Karunanidhi, for receiving the government's best cine writers award for the year 2008'While announcing the awards for films in various categories, the Tamil Nadu Government chose Mr Karunanidhi as the Best Dialouge Writer for the film ''Uliyin Osai.''
In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa wanted to know how a Chief Minister who was in a position to present the awards could present one to himself.
This is a clear violation of norms,'' she claimed and alleged this reflected political interference in selecting the awardees.
At a time when the people of the State were suffering from price rise, power cut and a host of other issues, was it fair for a Chief Minister to be honoured by his own government? she asked.
It would be better for the Chief Minister not to receive the award and instead devote his attention to the burning issues faced by people like river water issue with neighbouring States, rising prices, severe power cuts and the attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Lankan Navy and solve them.
Further she alleged, Karunanidihi made the government as his family oriented government and she said that she suspects that he will engage his kith and kin in to the film industry and give government awards to them in the coming years, before he faces the general election to be held in 2011.
